Role Purpose
The Head of Sales – General Insurance is responsible for driving the overall sales strategy, developing effective distribution channels, and achieving revenue targets for the general insurance business. This leadership role focuses on enhancing market presence, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of customer-centric insurance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Set and monitor performance targets for the sales team, ensuring achievement of revenue and profitability objectives.
- Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and growth areas.
Channel Development and Management
- Build and manage a robust multi-channel distribution network, including agents, brokers, assurance, and digital platforms.
- Strengthen relationships with existing partners and onboard new partners to expand market reach.
- Ensure effective training and support for distribution channels to maximize productivity.
Customer Acquisition and Retention
- Drive strategies to acquire new customers while enhancing retention of existing clients.
- Collaborate with the product development team to offer tailored solutions that address market needs.
- Implement customer feedback mechanisms to continuously improve service delivery.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to foster high performance and engagement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability within the team.
Market Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to inform strategic decisions.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, market insights, and revenue projections to senior management.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies within the sales function
Requirements
- At least 10–15 years of experience in sales within the general insurance industry, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in managing multi-channel distribution networks, including digital sales platforms.
- Strong familiarity with the regulatory landscape of the general insurance market.
