Echo Network Africa (ENA) formerly Kenya Women Holding (KWH) is a woman led, women serving development institution that works with other like minded stakeholders to empower, position and advocate for women with specific focus on young women, women with disabilities and women from marginalized communities. ENAs programs are anchored on four major pillars, namely: Women Empowerment (Enhancing womens livelihoods, health and inclusion in the Aquaculture Value Chain), Positioning (Empowering Women in Political & Democratic Spaces), Tuvuke and Gender Mainstreaming (Tuvuke deals with Women in peace building and national cohesion while Gender Mainstreaming aims at incorporating the gender aspect in ENAs initiatives) and Girls Excel Initiative ( From FGM, Period Poverty, Teenage pregnancies and Early Marriage to excelling in STEM)
Job Description
The Communications Team Lead provides strategic leadership in planning, executing, and managing Echo Network Africa Foundation internal and external communication initiatives. The role incorporates the use of ICT to drive digital innovation, streamline communication workflows, and enhance the organization’s visibility and stakeholder engagement. As a senior leader, the Communications Team Lead ensures alignment of communication strategies with ENAF’s mission and objectives while fostering a culture of continuous learning, creativity, and adaptability.
KEY TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership in Communication
- Design and implement ENAF’s comprehensive communications strategy to promote institutional and programmatic goals.
- Lead the development of annual communication work plans, ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities of ENAF.
- Provide high-level advisory support to the President and CEO and senior management team on communication, branding, and public relations.
- Oversee the integration of ICT tools and platforms to improve communication processes, data analytics, and stakeholder engagement.
- Establish communication policies, standards, and guidelines to maintain consistency across all ENA platforms and materials.
Stakeholder and Media Management
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key local, regional, and international media outlets to enhance ENAF’s visibility.
- Develop and manage relationships with donors, government agencies, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to amplify ENAF’s impact.
- Supervise the creation and dissemination of tailored communication materials, such as case studies, success stories, and analytical reports, for diverse audiences.
- Oversee the stakeholder contact database and ensure the security and integrity of communication systems.
ICT Integration in Communication
- Lead the digital transformation of ENAF’s communication processes through the adoption of modern ICT tools.
- Oversee the management and enhancement of ENAF’s website and social media platforms, ensuring they remain secure, user-friendly, and impactful.
- Utilize data-driven tools to analyze the performance of communication initiatives and improve engagement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards in all communication and IT-related activities.
Content Creation and Knowledge Management
- Guide and oversee the development of high-quality institutional and programmatic communication materials.
- Supervise the editing of project reports to ensure clear, impactful communication of ENAF’s progress, learning, and results.
- Monitor and respond to media coverage of ENAF’s activities while ensuring accurate representation of its work.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing across ENAF’s offices by utilizing ICT platforms to scale lessons learned and best practices.
Event Management and Marketing
- Provide leadership in planning and executing high-profile ENAF events, including conferences, workshops, and campaigns.
- Develop and oversee marketing communication strategies to position ENAF as a leader in its sector.
- Ensure the creation of compelling collateral for events, such as press releases, key messages, graphics, and promotional materials.
Team Management and Capacity Building
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Communications team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Build the capacity of the Communications team and other ENAF staff in communication best practices and ICT utilization.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure continuous professional development for team members.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a relevant field is strongly preferred.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Certifications (e.g. Social media management, digital marketing, data analytics, or website management) are an added advantage.
- Membership in professional bodies such as PRSK, MSK, or KPCA.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 7–10 years of progressive experience in communications, with 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of integrating ICT into communication strategies and platforms.
- Extensive experience in media relations, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication in a busy NGO or development organization.
- Demonstrated success in managing digital platforms, marketing strategies, and large-scale events.
