Our client is one of largest Japanese Trading & Investment companies to deal such as textile, machinery, metals, minerals, energy, chemicals, food, general products, realty, information and communications technology, and has 100 oversea offices & over 300 Subsidiaries
They are seeking to recruit a Liaison Representative for development of Chemicals and Plastic material related activities. The ideal candidate must have the experiences / knowledges about business development for at least 2 years in chemicals and/or plastic material related works, to perform smooth, seamless, prompt and appropriate liaison function to Headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- To collect the required information and report to ITOCHU Head Office and ITOCHU Nairobi Office accurately & timely as may be assigned from time to time.
- To engage in liaison, coordination and market research activities for Head Office’s Chemicals and Plastic material related projects and business with other ITOCHU Nairobi members, with the aim to:
- Maintain and develop relationships with East African local industries and suppliers of Head Office, and by understanding their needs and capabilities,
- Enable Head Office to trade chemicals and Plastic material related items to East Africa,
- Assist Head Office to promote chemical and Plastic material related items in East Africa, in order to maximize market access for already established manufacturers in Japan & other countries.
- Analyzing the market, finding the potential customers and cultivating the relationship with them on behalf of Head office
- Collect necessary information for Head Office to estimate total available market and strategize how to penetrate in East Africa
- Coordination between the customers and HQ for their smooth trade transactions with the knowledge of the product information, market needs and customer’s requirements.
- To identify, and communicate any new and emerging business opportunities to Head Office,
- Other projects and duties as assigned by ITOCHU Nairobi and Head Office
- To lead the junior staffs by good example as well provide him/her with appropriate coaching.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (chemical or biological sciences preferred)
- Logical thinking, outstanding communication skills both oral and in writing
- Good sense of time and judgement
- Team player
- Outstanding business acumen, good in report writing and presentation
- Flexible, good interpersonal skills for both office environment and business networking
- Outgoing and culturally dynamic with ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Good sense of sustainability of operations, activities and cost management
- High integrity and understanding of compliance including IT security
- Good at mathematics and ability to use Microsoft Excel
- Ability to prioritize tasks for good work management
- Creative and good at problem solving with strong sense of responsibility
- Required relevant work experience: about 4 years
- Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
- Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint skills required.
