Police urged the public to donate only through licensed and officially approved charities. Abu Dhabi and Dubai Police highlighted common scams, including fake fundraising campaigns, phishing links, and fraudulent prize claims.
Under UAE cybercrime laws, online begging can result in up to three months in jail and a minimum Dh10,000 fine. In 2024 alone, around 1,200 such cases were detected nationwide.
