“Forty years ago, on October 25, 1985, Emirates took off from Dubai on its first flight to the world,” Sheikh Hamdan noted in his message. “It wasn’t just the beginning of an airline, but the start of a journey of ambition that never stopped.”
He highlighted the airline’s growth from two leased aircraft and four destinations to a fleet of 267 serving 152 cities, carrying over 53 million passengers annually.
“Today, Emirates is not only the world’s best airline — it’s a bridge that connects people, cultures, and dreams,” he added, expressing gratitude to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the Emirates team for their dedication in making Dubai a global hub of connection and possibility.
“Their ambition continues to carry us to new heights,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
