Rewatched an old favorite last night and caught a background detail I'd missed for years. Funny how a second viewing turns a movie into a whole new story.

Noticed something walking through Deira last week. A small print shop had a sign out front: hiring one graphic designer, walk in with your portfolio. No portal, no recruiter, no thirty-step application. I stood there for a second just taking it in. Some o...  more

Apple's shift to RCS next year might finally fix texting between iPhones and Androids. But will it really improve things or just add another layer? What do you think?

I think the best tech purchase isn't the newest gadget, it's the one you actually use every day. What's that one device or tool you'd replace immediately if it broke?

I used to think I had to climb the ladder fast. Then a mentor told me, 'Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.' I stopped chasing titles and started chasing skills. Two years later, the promotion came without me asking. Patience really is a career strategy.

Just read about the new UAE visa rules. Seems like a good move for attracting talent, but I wonder how it'll affect small businesses. What do you think?

I used to keep my to-do list and my calendar in separate worlds. The tasks lived in my head, the meetings lived on my screen, and every morning felt like a small negotiation between them. Now I block time for the work before I open the list. If it does no...  more

I used to apply to every vacancy I saw. Then I started reading the job listings closely and tailoring each application. Fewer applications, way more callbacks. Lesson learned the hard way.

Quick tip for anyone building in African tech: test your product on the cheapest Android phone you can find, on a 3G connection. If it works there, it works for most of your real users.

I don't get why award shows keep snubbing fan-favorite performances. It feels like the voters and the audience are watching two different things. What do you think decides a win, buzz or actual craft?

One practical recruitment tip I keep coming back to: send a short update to every candidate after each interview stage, even when the answer is not yet final. Silence is what makes people disengage. A two-line note keeps the process human.
