Thereโs far too much online about candidates being ghosted after interviews โ and it needs to stop now.
If youโve taken the time to prepare, show up, and invest your energy into an interview, you deserve basic respect in return. A simple yes or no. Thatโs it.
โ Silence is not acceptable.
โ Being ignored is not acceptable.
โ Waiting weeks with no update is not acceptable.
Whether itโs through a recruiter or directly with an employer:
๐ Chase them. Follow up. Hold them accountable.
๐ If itโs through a recruiter โ press them for answers.
๐ If itโs a direct employer โ push for feedback.
You are not asking for anything unreasonable. Communication is part of a professional process.
And hereโs the truth:
If organisations can find the time to interview you, they can find the time to give you an answer.
The market is tough enough right now. Candidates shouldnโt also have to deal with unnecessary uncertainty.
We need to change the culture.
We need to stop normalising silence.
We need to expect better โ and demand better.
Letโs start holding people accountable. Respect goes both ways.
No one has the right to leave you hanging. Ever. less
