ZESCO United host Prison Leopards on Sunday as they seek to build on their opening day win in the MT Super League with another victory in Ndola.
ZESCO got their 2023/24 campaign off to a positive start with a 1-0 win over NAPSA Stars last weekend, one of five victories by that scoreline in a low-scoring first round of the season.
The last three matchups between ZESCO and Leopards have finished 1-1, while the latter have yet to win a game at their hosts in the league in four attempts.
Forest Rangers were also winners on the opening weekend as they go to Zanaco, who were not in action. Rangers have won the previous two clashes between these sides 1-0, but have generally struggled in this fixture with only five wins in the last 30 league meetings between the sides.
Red Arrows were another who opened up the season with a win, but they will not be in action this weekend as their scheduled game against last season’s runners-up MUZA FC has been postponed due to the latter’s appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The same goes for champions Power Dynamos, who have no league fixture as they try to overturn a 2-1 away loss to African Stars in the Champions League.
Promoted Mufulira Wanderers won on the opening day and now travel to Kansanshi Dynamos in search of a full haul of six points. Dynamos are tough to beat on their own patch and have won at home in their last four games dating back to last season.
Green Buffaloes and NAPSA Stars were both losers on the opening weekend and they meet in search of their first points in Lusaka. The last time Stars won at Buffaloes was in 2012.
Promoted trident go to Kabwe Warriors seeking to add to the point they got last week against Kansanshi Dynamos, while Green Eagles are at another promoted side, Konkola Blades.
There is also a game on Monday when Nkana FC look to make up for their opening day defeat when they head to Mutondo Stars, another side new to the Super League this season.
