Xiaomi’s 15T And 15T Pro Look Great But Age Too Fast

Meet Xiaomi’s new flagships — impressive on paper, but already living on borrowed time. Xiaomi’s 15T and 15T Pro are impressive phones that are about to be outdated, thanks to an unusual launch schedule that sees their successors arriving almost immediately.
I’ve been testing the 15T Pro for over a week, and while it delivers solid performance and flagship-level features, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Xiaomi’s 17 series is just around the corner.
Xiaomi’s Strange Release Strategy
Xiaomi’s 15T lineup follows the 15 and 15 Pro launched in China back in October 2024. These new models bring similar specs at a slightly more affordable price and are rolling out globally, including in Europe.
But here’s the catch: tomorrow, Xiaomi will unveil the Xiaomi 17 series, skipping a number in its naming convention to compete with Apple. The 17 Pro is rumored to pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and even a second rear display. While those handsets likely won’t reach global markets until spring 2026, their announcement makes today’s 15T series feel instantly outdated.
What The Xiaomi 15T And 15T Pro Offer
Despite their awkward timing, the 15T and 15T Pro are no slouches. Both phones sport massive 6.83-inch displays, MediaTek’s latest processors, and generous storage options.
-
Xiaomi 15T: Powered by the Dimensity 8400-Ultra, with up to 512GB storage.
-
Xiaomi 15T Pro: Equipped with the Dimensity 9400 Plus, and a whopping 1TB storage option.
Both devices feature 12GB of RAM, making them capable multitasking machines for gaming, streaming, and heavy app use.
Cameras Built For Power Users
The camera setups are also impressive. Both phones pack triple rear cameras, but the Pro model stands out with a 5x periscope zoom lens, putting it in the same league as top competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra series.
Photo enthusiasts will find plenty to like here, even if Xiaomi’s software tuning can sometimes be hit-or-miss.
Should You Buy The 15T Series?
Here’s the big question: should you buy a phone that’s already outdated the moment it launches?
If you want a powerful device right now, the 15T Pro delivers performance that rivals today’s flagships. But if you’re patient, the Xiaomi 17 series will almost certainly overshadow it with more cutting-edge features and next-gen processing power.
In other words, the 15T lineup feels like a stopgap — great hardware, but with a short shelf life.
Xiaomi’s 15T and 15T Pro are impressive phones that are about to be outdated, not because they lack power, but because of Xiaomi’s own aggressive release cycle. For buyers outside China, these devices might be the only option for months. But globally, their shine could fade fast once the 17 series makes headlines.
If you’re an early adopter, the 15T Pro won’t disappoint. But if you care about future-proofing, waiting just might be the smarter move.
