UK to charge universities $1,200 per international student, including those from Nigeria, Kenya, India and Pakistan, targeting $594 million in first-year revenue

Universities in England will begin paying an annual levy of £925 ($1,200) for each international student beyond an exemption threshold from August 2028, introducing a new financial obligation for institutions recruiting students from countries including Nigeria, China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
