Genki has officially unveiled the Covert Dock 3, and it’s already making waves among handheld gaming fans. The new Covert Dock is ready for the Switch 2 and ROG Xbox Ally, promising smoother performance, 4K/120Hz output, and faster charging in a compact travel-friendly design.
This “third and final chapter” in Genki’s dock series launches through Kickstarter, shipping this December. For gamers who loved the earlier models, the Covert Dock 3 brings major upgrades that make it future-proof for next-gen handhelds.
What’s New With The Covert Dock 3?
The Covert Dock 3 packs powerful updates compared to Genki’s previous versions. Its HDMI 2.1 port now supports 4K resolution at 120Hz with HDR and variable refresh rate (VRR). That means you’ll get buttery-smooth gameplay and visuals whether you’re docking the Switch 2, Steam Deck, or ROG Xbox Ally.
Charging has also been boosted, with the USB-C port delivering up to 65W—a 20W upgrade from the last model. It also supports DisplayPort 1.4 video input, making it more versatile for laptops and handhelds. Plus, a USB-A port is still included for accessories, and Genki bundles a USB-C 3.2 cable in the box.
The dock is priced at $59, or $69 for the global edition that includes travel adapters—perfect for gamers on the go.
Shadowcast 3: Capture Gameplay Like A Pro
Alongside the dock, Genki is funding its new Shadowcast 3 lineup of capture cards. The base $59 Shadowcast 3 comes in the same dongle-style design but with much-improved capture quality. It can record or stream 4K/60Hz, 1440p/120Hz, or 1080p/240Hz gameplay, compared to the old model’s 1080p/60Hz limit.
For streamers, this is a big deal. Genki says latency is under 40ms, and the Pro version ($79) adds tech that eliminates lag over HDMI. You’ll also get a USB-C 3.2 cable to connect directly to OBS, Streamlabs, Zoom, or even Discord.
And if you’re into content creation, the Shadowcast 3 can even convert your DSLR or mirrorless camera into a high-quality webcam.
Why The Covert Dock 3 Matters
The handheld gaming world is getting more competitive, with devices like the Switch 2, ROG Xbox Ally, and Steam Deck pushing performance further. The new Covert Dock is ready for the Switch 2 and ROG Xbox Ally because it bridges portability and power—something official docks often lack.
With HDMI 2.1, 65W fast charging, and a design that fits in your pocket, it’s built for gamers who want more freedom. Pair that with Shadowcast 3’s capture capabilities, and Genki’s Kickstarter is shaping up to be a must-watch campaign for late 2025.
