SNV, a global non-profit development organization, focuses on increasing people’s incomes and access to basic services in agriculture, energy, and water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH). The Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project aims to provide access to modern energy services for households, enterprises, and community facilities in underserved counties, in line with Kenya’s universal energy access goals.
The available positions require expertise in data management, monitoring and evaluation, social and environmental safeguards, gender and social inclusion, and learning advisory for clean energy solutions. Senior Data Officer – KOSAP
The Senior Data Officer will be responsible for managing the data systems and processes that underpin the KOSAP project. Key duties will include designing and maintaining databases, ensuring data quality, developing data collection tools, and producing reports that inform project decision-making. The role will require close collaboration with technical teams, field staff, and partners to ensure timely and accurate data flow. Additionally, the officer will oversee data analysis for monitoring, reporting, and learning purposes. Environmental Safeguards Specialist – KOSAP
The Environmental Safeguards Specialist will ensure that KOSAP activities comply with environmental regulations, donor requirements, and SNV’s internal policies. Responsibilities will involve conducting environmental impact assessments, developing mitigation measures, and monitoring environmental performance across project activities. The specialist will provide technical guidance to teams and partners on integrating environmental safeguards into planning, implementation, and monitoring. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer – KOSAP

Responsibilities include conducting routine data quality assessments, preparing progress reports, and supporting evaluations. GESI Advisor – Clean Cooking Sector
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor will lead the integration of inclusive practices in SNV’s clean cooking programmes. The role entails developing strategies to address gender and social barriers in access to clean cooking solutions, engaging stakeholders to promote equity, and providing technical input into project design and delivery. The advisor will also work on building the capacity of partners and staff to apply GESI principles and measure related outcomes. Social Safeguard Specialist – KOSAP
The Social Safeguard Specialist will focus on ensuring that KOSAP activities meet social safeguard requirements, including those related to land acquisition, resettlement, community engagement, and the protection of vulnerable groups. Duties will include conducting social impact assessments, developing and implementing safeguard plans, and liaising with affected communities to address grievances. The specialist will work with project teams to integrate social considerations into implementation processes while maintaining compliance with donor and legal standards.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Advisor – Solar and Clean Cooking
The MEL Advisor will oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes across SNV’s solar and clean cooking initiatives. This will involve developing comprehensive MEL frameworks, coordinating data collection, and facilitating the use of evidence for adaptive management. The advisor will lead efforts to capture and share lessons learned, ensuring that knowledge from implementation informs current and future interventions.
