LG is finally opening preorders for its highly anticipated UltraFine 32U990A monitor. You can now preorder LG’s 6K 32-inch Thunderbolt 5 display for $2,000, making it one of the most powerful productivity and creative-focused monitors of 2025. Shipping is expected to begin on October 20th through B&H’s online store.
First revealed at CES 2025, LG bills the UltraFine 32U990A as the world’s first 6K display with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity built in. The monitor is set to launch in South Korea and Japan this fall, followed by a US release in October.
With its $1,999.99 price tag, LG’s new UltraFine comes in at nearly $3,000 less than Apple’s Pro Display XDR, while still offering impressive professional-grade specs.
The UltraFine 32U990A features a 31.5-inch IPS panel with a crisp 6,144 x 3,456 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Designed for professionals, it supports 10-bit color with coverage of 98% of the DCI-P3 and 99.5% of the Adobe RGB color gamut.
It also boasts a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits of brightness. While that’s lower than Apple’s 1,600 nits XDR, it explains why LG’s new 6K Thunderbolt 5 display is significantly more affordable.
On the back, you’ll find seven ports, including:
Two Thunderbolt 5 USB-C ports with 96W power delivery
HDMI 2.1
DisplayPort
USB-C upstream port
Thanks to Thunderbolt 5, the monitor can move data at blazing speeds up to 120Gbps when paired with compatible devices. This means faster workflows for video editors, 3D designers, and professionals handling massive files.
Monitors with this level of resolution, color accuracy, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity are rare. For under $2,000, LG is targeting creators who want pro-level features without Apple’s luxury price tag.
If you’ve been waiting for a monitor that combines 6K resolution, high-end color accuracy, and next-gen data speeds, this might be the best value option in 2025.
