The new powered footwear system, developed in collaboration with robotics company Dephy, features lightweight motors and sensors that help propel each step. Much like how an e-bike gives pedal assistance, Project Amplify provides powered motion for your legs — essentially acting as a “second set of calf muscles.”
Nike emphasizes that this innovation isn’t for professional runners chasing records. Instead, it’s made for people who want to move more efficiently — whether commuting, walking, or running at a 10-to-12-minute mile pace.
Project Amplify resembles a sleek, futuristic ankle brace. Inside, you’ll find a motor, drive belt, and rechargeable battery discreetly integrated into its minimal design. The system detects your movement patterns and responds instantly with a power boost that helps maintain speed with less effort.
Over 400 testers have already tried the prototypes, shaping what Nike calls a “new category of movement technology.” The brand plans to launch it publicly “in the coming years,” once testing is complete.
