Jorge Ganoza grew up in a family that had spent four generations in mining, but in 2004 he decided to build something of his own. Starting Fortuna with two associates, 34 people and what he called “big aspirations,” he spent 16 years building the company across Latin America before making a $1.5 billion bet on West Africa’s gold and silver.
