Intel says Arc GPUs will live on after Nvidia deal
Intel just confirmed that its Arc GPUs aren’t going anywhere, even as the company deepens its partnership with Nvidia. The announcement comes after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed that Nvidia will provide GPU chiplets for future Intel CPUs. Despite the shift, Intel says Arc GPUs will live on after Nvidia deal, signaling its continued commitment to discrete graphics.
Intel and Nvidia’s surprising partnership
In the future, Intel will manufacture CPUs that integrate Nvidia’s GPU chiplets directly alongside its x86 CPU cores. This approach will replace the integrated Arc graphics currently developed in-house. On paper, it looks like Nvidia is stepping in to handle Intel’s GPU workload — but Intel insists that’s not the whole story.
Intel doubles down on its GPU roadmap
According to Intel, the Nvidia collaboration is “complementary” and not a replacement. The company reiterated to PCWorld that its Arc GPU product line will continue, echoing earlier promises made by Intel executive Michelle Johnston Holthaus before her departure. That means consumers and PC gamers could still see more Arc GPU releases in the future.
Why skepticism remains
Still, some industry watchers are cautious. Intel has been scaling back projects to cut costs, raising questions about whether GPUs remain a top priority. With Nvidia already setting the standard — and AMD still competing strongly — it’s fair to wonder if Intel will invest heavily enough to make Arc a true contender.
What this means for PC gamers
For now, gamers should take Intel’s commitment at face value. The Arc A750 GPU proved competitive with Nvidia’s RTX 3060, and Intel has hinted at more improvements to come. Whether Arc GPUs continue to evolve into a serious alternative will depend on Intel’s willingness to push innovation, even with Nvidia as a new partner.
