DJI’s Smallest Action Camera Starts Recording With A Nod

DJI is pushing boundaries once again with a camera that feels straight out of sci-fi. DJI’s smallest action camera will start recording when you nod, giving creators a true hands-free way to capture every moment. The new Osmo Nano is compact, lightweight, and designed to slip into your pocket—yet it carries the same powerhouse sensor found in DJI’s flagship gear.
Compact Design, Flagship Power
Despite its size, the Osmo Nano features a 1/1.3-inch 4K sensor with 120fps recording and 13.5 stops of dynamic range. That means you’re getting the same high-quality shooting performance as the larger Osmo Action 5 Pro, but in a camera that weighs even less—even when docked.
To unlock its full potential, you’ll want to pair it with the Multifunctional Vision Dock, which adds a touchscreen and boosts battery life. This modular approach keeps the camera tiny when you need portability while offering extended use for longer shoots.
Limited U.S. Availability For Now
Like some of DJI’s other 2025 releases—including the Mini 5 Pro drone and Mic 3 wireless system—the Osmo Nano won’t immediately be available in the United States. DJI spokesperson Daisy Kong explained that the company is “optimizing strategy to best serve customers amidst evolving local conditions.”
Still, the Osmo Nano launches globally today, September 23, in multiple regions. Prices start at $309 USD in Canada, £239 in the UK, and €279 across Europe. A higher-capacity 128GB model costs $339 USD, £259, or €309 depending on region.
Why The Nod Control Feature Matters
The nod-to-record feature isn’t just a gimmick—it’s a major usability upgrade. Whether you’re biking, skiing, or just walking through a city, being able to start recording with a simple head movement means less fumbling and missed moments. Competitors like Insta360 Go Ultra offer lightweight cameras, but DJI is betting on gesture-based control as the next big leap in action shooting.
With its smart design, modular dock, and innovative nod-to-record feature, the Osmo Nano shows how far DJI is willing to push convenience and creativity. DJI’s smallest action camera will start recording when you nod, making it one of the most exciting releases for content creators in 2025—even if U.S. customers will need to wait a little longer.
