CarPlay is coming to pontoon boats, starting with select 2027 Crest and Balise models from MasterCraft Boat Holdings. This new integration brings familiar iPhone features to the water, including navigation, music, and more. Boaters will now enjoy the same convenience and safety they rely on in their cars.
MasterCraft Boat Holdings recently announced that its Crest and Balise pontoon boats will feature CarPlay, starting with the 2027 model year. The company is working with Savvy Navvy, a marine navigation app, to bring this technology to the water. This means boaters can access CarPlay's familiar interface right at the helm.
CarPlay on pontoons offers many features you already use in your car, but with a nautical twist. Here are some highlights:
Savvy Navvy adds on-water navigation, which is not available through Apple Maps on CarPlay. This makes it a must-have for boaters who need detailed marine information.
CarPlay with Savvy Navvy will come standard on all new Balise and Crest Conquest and Caribbean models for the 2027 model year. A limited Savvy Navvy Premium subscription is included, so you can test all the premium features.
If you already own a boat, don't worry. The Savvy Navvy app is available worldwide for CarPlay starting today. It works with any compatible CarPlay display, including aftermarket marine head units. This means you can add CarPlay to your existing boat without buying a new one.
Boaters have wanted a modern infotainment system for years. With CarPlay, they get a familiar, safe, and easy-to-use interface. Jelte Liebrand, Founder and CEO of Savvy Navvy, explains: "Boaters have been asking for a modern infotainment system for years. Plan your trip on the couch, step aboard, and it is already at the helm. No complicated ways to synchronise things; it just works."
This move also puts pressure on carmakers like GM and Tesla, who have been resistant to CarPlay. It shows that customers want choices and easy integration with their Apple devices.
CarPlay on pontoon boats is a game-changer for boating enthusiasts. Whether you're buying a new 2027 Crest or Balise pontoon or adding an aftermarket display, you can now enjoy the best of Apple's technology while out on the water. Safe and smart navigation is just a tap away.
