AT&T says Trump call issue wasn’t its fault
AT&T has clarified that its network was not responsible for the technical issues during former President Donald Trump’s recent conference call with faith leaders. Trump had taken to Truth Social, blaming AT&T for failing to handle the massive call, which reportedly had tens of thousands of participants. In response, AT&T issued a statement emphasizing that the disruption stemmed from a third-party conference call platform, not its infrastructure. The comment came after Trump publicly urged the “Boss of AT&T” to investigate the failure.
Trump blames AT&T, company pushes back
Trump expressed frustration on Truth Social, claiming AT&T was “totally unable to make their equipment work properly” and called for leadership intervention. However, AT&T swiftly addressed the issue, stating on X that it had reached out to the White House to understand what went wrong. A few hours later, the company announced its preliminary analysis, revealing that the fault likely came from the call-hosting platform, not AT&T's network services.
AT&T distances itself from technical problems
The telecom giant reiterated that its systems were working normally during the event and said it is still working to identify the exact cause to prevent future disruptions. Although AT&T didn’t name the problematic conference call provider, it was clear about where the blame shouldn’t fall. The White House hasn’t commented on the situation, and AT&T declined to identify the platform involved when asked by reporters.
Trump vows to switch carriers next time
Shortly after his initial post, Trump mentioned that the call might be rescheduled and implied he would use a different carrier in the future. While the incident stirred controversy online, AT&T’s response aimed to defend its reputation and reassure users about its network reliability. The situation highlights the challenges of large-scale digital communication events—and how quickly blame can be misdirected without full technical context.
