Apple is quietly testing its next-generation Siri with a new internal tool called Veritas. Reports suggest that Apple’s ‘Veritas’ chatbot is reportedly an employee-only test of Siri’s AI upgrades, designed to help staff trial features before they reach the public. For now, there are no signs the chatbot will ever be released outside the company.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Veritas functions much like ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Employees can type prompts, have back-and-forth conversations, and even revisit older chats to refine queries. This allows Apple to collect quick feedback and fine-tune new Siri capabilities.
One example Gurman highlights is the ability to search through personal data and perform in-app actions like photo editing. These are exactly the kinds of features Apple hopes will make Siri feel more modern and competitive in the AI era.
Despite the similarities to popular AI chatbots, Apple has no immediate plans to release Veritas to the public. Instead, it’s treating the tool as a controlled environment for testing.
Gurman believes this may be a missed opportunity, arguing that Apple could benefit from putting its AI chatbot directly in the hands of users. Still, Apple seems focused on carefully shaping Siri’s future rather than rushing into the broader chatbot market.
Interestingly, reports indicate that Apple is leaning on Google’s Gemini for AI-powered search within iOS, rather than building its own competing system. This move underscores Apple’s cautious approach in the AI race, relying on strategic partnerships while it continues refining its internal tools.
For now, Apple’s ‘Veritas’ chatbot is reportedly an employee-only test of Siri’s AI upgrades, giving staff a sandbox to experiment with features that could eventually define the future of Siri.
