Amazon has launched a new AI translation tool that makes it simpler for self-published authors to expand their reach. Kindle Translate, currently in beta, allows writers to translate books between English and Spanish, and from German to English. This feature answers a growing demand from authors wanting to publish in multiple languages without hiring expensive translators.
With Kindle Translate, authors can select the languages for their books, set prices for each translation, and preview translations before publishing. Amazon automatically checks translation accuracy and labels translated ebooks with “Kindle Translate.” This ensures readers know when AI-assisted translations were used, boosting trust and transparency.
Currently, less than 5% of Kindle titles are available in multiple languages. Kindle Translate aims to change that, opening opportunities for authors to reach a global audience. Translated books are also eligible for Kindle Unlimited and KDP Select, helping authors expand visibility and potential earnings.
