Amazon announces a new Echo Studio at its fall 2025 hardware event, introducing what it calls its most advanced and best-sounding smart speaker yet. The refreshed Echo Studio packs upgraded audio hardware, smarter AI features, and a smaller design that makes it stand out in Amazon’s growing Echo lineup.
A More Compact But More Powerful Echo Studio
The new Echo Studio is 40% smaller than the original model while delivering bigger sound. It includes three full-range drivers, a custom woofer, and support for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, making it one of the most immersive Echo devices yet. Amazon even moved the iconic light ring to the front for a sleeker, modern look.
Daniel Rausch, Amazon’s VP of Alexa and Echo, called it “the most advanced and best-sounding Echo ever.”
Powered By AI: AZ3 Pro Chip Inside
At the heart of this speaker is Amazon’s AZ3 Pro chip, which takes Alexa to a new level. The processor improves conversation detection and adds support for state-of-the-art AI models and vision transformers. This means Alexa will be smarter, faster, and more conversational than ever before.
The Studio also works seamlessly with Fire TV. You can connect up to five Echo Studio or Echo Dot Max speakers to create an Alexa Home Theater system, giving you true surround sound without complicated setups.
Price, Release Date, And Alexa Plus
Amazon announces the new Echo Studio will launch at $219.99, with preorders already open. It officially ships on October 29th, 2025.
In the US, buyers will also get early access to Alexa Plus, Amazon’s AI-powered upgrade to Alexa. This new feature promises more natural conversations and advanced personalization.
Echo Studio’s Journey So Far
The Echo Studio first launched back in 2019, earning praise as one of the best-sounding smart speakers ever released. In 2022, Amazon improved its spatial audio tech via a software update and added a white version to the lineup. Now, with this 2025 refresh, Amazon is pushing the boundaries again, blending premium audio quality with cutting-edge AI.
Why This Launch Matters
This new Echo Studio also marks the first major Echo hardware release under Panos Panay, who took over Amazon’s devices and services division in 2023. Panay, formerly Microsoft’s chief product officer, seems set on reshaping Amazon’s hardware ecosystem for the AI-first era.
