Manchester United have reportedly set the maximum fee they will pay to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta this summer.
The 20-year-old Denmark striker has emerged as a key transfer target for manager Erik ten Hag, after the club cooled interest in Tottenham star Harry Kane.
Hojlund impressed in his first season of Serie A football, scoring 10 goals. He also netted on five occasions in two games during the international break in March.
A tall striker, Hojlund is physically imposing, strong in the air and is able to run at defenders with pace.
As per Fabrizio Romano, United are preparing an official bid for the forward, a process which has been sped up due to PSG joining the race to sign him.Atalanta reportedly want a fee of £86 million to sell the wonderkid - but United aren't prepared to match that amount.
Man Utd 'set maximum fee for Hojlund'
According to the Daily Mail, United are adamant that they will not bid more than £60 million to sign Hojlund, meaning Atalanta could price them out of a move.That is despite the club reportedly placing an asking price of £40 million on the head of midfielder Scott McTominay, for whom a sale could raise valuable transfer funds.
United have already completed two big-money deals this window, with Mason Mount and Andre Onana arriving for a combined fee of over £100 million.
The Mail also claim that, as per sources, spending an extra £10 million on Hojlund could affect any future business due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions.
Another option for United is Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani, although any pursuit of the France international may depend on the conclusion of the transfer saga involving PSG and Kylian Mbappe.
According to L'Equipe, PSG remain interested in Kolo Muani, and could swoop for the 23-year-old forward if Mbappe does move on from the Parc des Princes this summer.
Les Parisiens have accepted a £259 million world-record bid for Mbappe from Al Hilal, although French football expert Julien Laurens claims that the Saudi Pro League club are yet to approach the forward to discuss contract terms.
