iPhone 13 Now Receives Emergency Satellite Feature with iOS 18.5 Update Apple has just rolled out iOS 18.5, a major update that brings the life-saving emergency satellite capabilities to iPhone 13 users. Previously, this feature was exclusive to iPhone 14 and later models. With iOS 18.5, iPhone 13 owners can now access emergency satellite services, a critical tool for contacting emergency responders when there's no cellular signal or Wi-Fi. This new feature allows users to send messages via satellite, share emergency information with contacts, and even request roadside assistance in remote areas. The emergency satellite feature utilizes carrier services like T-Mobile's collaboration with Starlink, providing essential communication during times of crisis. To enable the service, users can check the "Cellular" section in the iPhone's Settings. The satellite communication feature has already saved many lives, including helping stranded hikers, victims of wildfires, and individuals in isolated locations. While the introduction of emergency satellite connectivity for iPhone 13 is the headline feature of iOS 18.5, the update also includes several smaller but important improvements. Apple has made enhancements to Screen Time, its parental control software. Parents will now receive an alert if their child successfully enters the parent’s passcode to access Screen Time permissions, adding an extra layer of security. Additionally, the Mail app now makes it easier to access the "All Mail" category as a dedicated tab, improving user experience. A vibrant new Pride wallpaper is also included, reflecting Apple's commitment to inclusivity. Another welcome update simplifies subscribing to content through the Apple TV app, making it more user-friendly on smart TVs and connected devices. Apple has also addressed some bugs with this release. For instance, the Apple Vision Pro app now launches correctly without a black screen when downloaded from the App Store. Users will also find improvements in Siri functionality and fixes for issues with enterprise apps not launching as expected. Overall, iOS 18.5 enhances iPhone 13’s performance, making it a must-have update for users looking for more features and stability.
