The UAE has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday for government employees to mark the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, which falls on 12 Rabi Al Awwal.

With the weekend, this provides a three-day break for federal workers, while employees in Sharjah will enjoy an extended weekend.

The announcement followed the non-sighting of the crescent on August 23, confirming the month of Safar would have 30 days, and Rabi Al Awwal began on August 25.
