Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reported a major shift towards digital nol card top-ups in H1 2025, with transactions via smart ticket vending machines rising 20% compared to last year.

Overall vending machine use dropped 28%, while cash top-ups at ticket offices fell 37%, reflecting growing adoption of online and mobile payments.

This transition has reduced technical issues by 80% and cut cash-handling costs, aligning with RTA’s vision for smarter, more efficient public transport.

The move enhances commuter convenience, streamlines operations, and supports Dubai’s broader digital transformation goals.
