Abu Dhabi’s Environment Agency has cultivated over 302,000 coral colonies this year under the Abu Dhabi Coral

Abu Dhabi’s Environment Agency has cultivated over 302,000 coral colonies this year under the Abu Dhabi Coral Gardens Project, marking one of the region’s largest marine restoration efforts.

The initiative has now reached around 1.8 million coral colonies since its launch, alongside the deployment of more than 12,700 artificial reef modules.

These structures support marine biodiversity, restore fish populations, and strengthen coastal ecosystems.

Officials say the project will enhance food security and climate resilience while expanding coral habitats across 1,200 square kilometres. Abu Dhabi aims to cultivate over four million coral colonies by 2030.
