HR: He resigned after his first week.
CEO: That makes no sense. We just gave him a job offer after a long layoff spell.
HR: Yes, but being jobless wasn't the issue.
CEO: Then what was?
HR: He said the offer was 20% below the market rate.
CEO: He was out of work and can't dictate terms.
HR: That's true.
CEO: Then why did he accept the offer only to resign days later?
HR: He accepted the offer but already had another interview lined up. A week later, he called to say he'd accepted a different offer that matched his worth.
CEO: That is unprofessional and unacceptable.
HR: The only option we have is to readvertise the position.
CEO: No, I'll match their offer.
HR: It's too late. The damage is already done.
CEO: Why?
HR: He's already working.
CEO: We offered him a job when he had been laid off, and his gratitude is to resign and go where he's paid more? Very unprofessional still.
HR: We took advantage of him because he was laid off and unemployed and offered him below market rate. This is also unprofessional and unacceptable
CEO: So what are you saying?
HR: Don't exploit a candidate's situation. It never ends well.

I rejected a CV from a candidate twice.
He applied for the third time, and I called him for an interview.
And guess what? We offered him a role right after the interview.
Now, a year later, he has become the Team Leader and is performing excellently.
The lesson I learned from this: do not always judge a person solely based on their CV.
Sometimes, they are more than that one-page profile.

"Do you have any questions for us?"
He replied:
"What opportunities are available for growth in this role?"
I smiled.
Why?
Because even at the beginning of his career, he wasn't just thinking about getting a job or earning a big salary.
He was thinking long-term.
He was looking for a place to learn, grow, and build a career.
Sometimes, the questions candidates ask tell you more about them than their answers ever will.
This is a reminder for you. If you are starting your career, ask questions that show interest in the job and willingness to grow long-term. less -
🚨 Biggest Interview Mistake?
Walking in Blind.
You spent hours preparing answers, but forgot to learn about the company.
A few minutes of research can make a huge difference and show you're genuinely interested in the role.

Candidate: I’m too frustrated this would be last time I’m applying.
So , He applied for the third time and finally resume got shortlisted then HR called him for an interview.
And guess what?
Company offered him a role right after the interview.
He joined company in low package just because he was trying for this company since long.
Now, over a year later, he has left that company, finally now he is in a leadership position and one of the top billers.
The lesson I learned from this: do not always judge a person solely based on their CV.
Sometimes, they are more than that two page profile.
Give a chance to candidates - they have energy and ideas more than you can think of.

Yesterday, I offered a candidate 40% raise over his last salary after a year's gap.
When I asked about his expectations, he mentioned he would be okay with the same salary as his last one, as he had been out of work for a year due to health reasons.
I didn’t say anything at that moment because I knew we had a budget to offer him a raise if he got selected.
Fast forward: he cleared all interviews, and I offered him. He almost had tears in his eyes and shared that many told him he shouldn’t expect a hike after a career gap.
Please don't take advantage of someone's vulnerable situation.🙏
Please don't undervalue candidates just because they need a job. 🙏 less -

Most job seekers spend hours applying to jobs but only minutes on their CV.
The harsh reality?
❌ Recruiters spend just a few seconds scanning a CV.
❌ Generic resumes rarely make it to the interview stage.
❌ One small mistake can cost you a life-changing opportunity.
Before you hit "Apply" on your next job application, ask yourself:
👉 Does your CV clearly showcase your value?
👉 Is it ATS-friendly?
👉 Does it highlight achievements instead of responsibilities?
👉 Would YOU hire yourself after reading it?
📄 Not sure if your CV is interview-ready?
Drop "CV" in the comments, and I will share practical tips to help you improve your resume and increase your chances of getting shortlisted. less -
Your next career milestone is waiting. Keep applying, keep believing. Every rejection is a step closer to the right offer.
-
When tailoring your CV for a specific role, mirror the language from the job description. It helps recruiters see you as a perfect fit.

What's the one section on your CV that you always struggle to write well?
-
Hiring Kenya shared 's share.70% of jobs filled via networking before posting. Time to get talking!
-
I once had a candidate list 'proficient in Microsoft Office' as their only skill. That's like saying 'I can breathe.' Your CV should shout what sets you apart, not what everyone else has.
-
Struggling to get callbacks? Your CV might be missing one key thing: results, not just duties. Instead of 'Responsible for sales,' say 'Increased sales by 30% in six months.' Recruiters love numbers. They prove impact.
-
I've reviewed hundreds of CVs this month, and the biggest mistake? Using a one-size-fits-all template. Tailor your CV to the job description. Highlight the skills and experience that match. It makes a world of difference.
