About Me
I am a Senior ICT Manager and Software Engineer with almost 15 years of experience building and leading technology functions across the humanitarian, education, and government sectors. Since 2019, I have served as Senior ICT Manager (Chief ICT / Computer Engineer) at the Relief Society of Tigray (REST), where I direct the organization's IT strategy, infrastructure, and digital transformation agenda, aligning technology investments with wider organizational goals.
My background spans the full breadth of enterprise IT: cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365), network and Active Directory administration, ERP support, cybersecurity and risk management, and business continuity and disaster recovery. I have led the modernization of systems and workflows in resource-constrained environments, strengthened security postures through access controls and preventive maintenance, and kept mission-critical operations running for large, distributed teams.
Alongside infrastructure and operations, I have a strong track record in data and business intelligence. I use Power BI, KoboToolbox, and QGIS to turn field and organizational data into dashboards and insights that support evidence-based decisions by senior management, including administering WASH data systems used to track humanitarian programming.
Before moving fully into ICT leadership, I spent close to eight years at Sheba University College, first as a lecturer in Software Engineering and Computer Science and later as Programming Department Head, where I set academic strategy, designed curricula, and led faculty teams. That academic foundation, combined with an MSc and BSc in Software Engineering, CCNA Routing & Switching certification, and hands-on leadership experience, shapes how I approach technology: rigorously, strategically, and with a focus on developing the people around me.
I am currently based in Dubai and looking to bring this experience into a senior IT leadership role, such as IT Director, Head of IT/ICT, IT Infrastructure Manager, or IT Operations Manager, with an organization that values strong governance, digital transformation, and dependable, secure technology operations.
Outside of my professional work, I am active in my church community, contributing to media and event production, and I am currently pursuing further studies in transformational leadership. I bring the same discipline and commitment to every part of my work and life.
