CITAM Seeks to recruit a born-again Christian who is experienced and self-motivated to fill the position of counsellor in one of the Counselling centres. The Counsellor will provide professional, ethical, and Christ-centred counselling services to individuals, couples, families and groups within the Ministry, and wider community. The role aims to promote emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being in alignment with biblical principles, professional counselling standards, and Kenyan legal and ethical requirements.
The position reports to the Pastor in Charge of the centre.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Provide individual, couple, family, and group counselling in line with professional ethics and CITAM’s faith-based approach, including assessment, treatment planning, documentation, follow-up, and referrals where necessary.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential client records in compliance with counselling ethics, data protection requirements, and CITAM Counselling Ministry policy.
- Provide crisis intervention within and outside CITAM, making appropriate referrals in accordance with CITAM safeguarding and referral protocols.
- Integrate biblical principles with evidence-based counselling approaches within the approved scope of practice.
- Participate in supervision, case reviews, staff meetings, ministry planning sessions, and Counselling Centre platforms and forums.
- Support church-wide programs, seminars, mental health initiatives, and counselling-related communication with the congregation, including prayer support.
- Collaborate with pastors, ministry leaders, and approved external professionals in the delivery of counselling services.
- Motivate and encourage participation in the Counselling Centre, fostering team spirit and ensuring Counselling Centre workers and volunteers are well supported.
- Adhere strictly to CITAM’s Code of Conduct, Safeguarding Policy, Doctrinal Statement, and HR Manual.
- Participate in church services and broader ministry activities.

- Must be a born-again, mature Christian who conforms to the CITAM statement of faith.
- Bachelor’s degree in counselling psychology, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
- A master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in counselling experience, preferably in a church, clinical, or community setting.
- Valid practicing license with the Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB)
- Registration with a reputable counselling professional body (Registration with Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA), or Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors (KAPC) will be an added advantage.
