Description: The Aga Khan Academies are an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The AKDN is a group of development agencies with mandates that include the environment, health, education, architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development, disaster reduction, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalisation of historic cities. AKDN agencies conduct their programmes without regard to faith, origin or gender. In 2000, His Highness the Aga Khan initiated the establishment of the Aga Khan Academies, an integrated network of schools to be located in countries across Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East. When complete, the network of Academies will form a global learning community of about 18 schools in 14 countries. They will eventually serve approximately 14,000 girls and boys of exceptional calibre, graduating 1,500 students annually. The first Aga Khan Academy opened in Mombasa, Kenya in 2003, the second in Hyderabad, India in 2011 and the third in Maputo, Mozambique in 2013.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in the effective management of daily kitchen operations
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation and service of meals for students and staff
  • Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and nutrition
  • Assist with menu planning, taking into account dietary, medical, cultural, and religious requirements
  • Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure operational efficiency
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
  • Contribute to stock control, inventory management, and cost control
  • Uphold a professional, respectful, and child-safe working environment at all times

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in international schools, boarding schools, hotels, or large-scale institutional catering is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
