Description: Nairobi Inland Cargo Terminal (NICT) is an Inland Container Depot (ICD) located in the Industrial Area off Mombasa Road on ICD Road in Nairobi, Kenya. The main objective of NICT is to bring port services closer to customers in the hinterland.
Job Description

The Terminal Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of container transfer operations from ICDN to NICT and delivering high-quality services to customers clearing their containers at NICT.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective resource planning and allocation to ensure all areas are adequately staffed and equipped.
  • Coordinate with the appointed Transport team to allocate trucks required for container transfer to NICT.
  • Plan terminal operations activities to ensure organized stacking, cleanliness, seal audits, seamless verification operations per industry standards.
  • Implement daily operations reports and monitor consistency in execution, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities, particularly those involving third parties such as KPA, KRA and NICT Customers.
  • Supervise operations teams to facilitate smooth information flow and service delivery.
  • Ensure high standards of safety in NICT operations be it labor, equipment, third-party service providers etc.
  • Ensure compliance to KRA, KPA, Shipping lines documentation and cargo movement processes.
  • Ensure that cargo is released with valid delivery orders, clients and customs documents.
  • Execute any other duties reasonably assigned by Management from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Shipping and Port Management, Business Administration or Management, Transport or Maritime Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in logistics, shipping, or terminal operations.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a CFS, port, or warehouse environment.
  • Proven experience in Container handling and storage operations, Customs clearance procedures, Coordination with KPA, KRA, shipping lines, and transporters, Inventory control and documentation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Cargo documentation, CFS yard planning and cargo flow management, Safety and compliance regulations, Fleet and equipment utilization (reach stackers, forklifts)
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
