The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall day-to-day management and operational success of the company, with a strong focus on driving market growth across the East and Southern Africa region. The CEO will work in close partnership with the Chairman to ensure sustained revenue growth and operational excellence.
Key Deliverables
- Achieving ambitious Revenue and Market Growth
- Successful implementation and execution of a comprehensive Planning and Budgeting Process.
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with all regulators and key trade associations.
- Developing through training, coaching and mentoring a highly motivated and effective commerical team
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive commercial strategies to achieve significant revenue growth and market share expansion across the East and Southern Africa region.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of all sales, marketing, and business development activities across the region, ensuring efficieny and profitability.
- Travel, sometimes in the company of the Chairman, to meet with key customers, partners, and stakeholders across the region to understand their needs and take appropriate action.
- Serve as the primary representative of the organisation at trade and business associations, managing public relations and advocacy efforts. These include but are not limited to the KAM, KEPSA, Federation of Local Manufacturers, etc
- Effectively manage relationships with all external stakeholders, including but not limited to the Ministyr of Health, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Pharmacy & Poisons Board, etc
- Ensure all commercial and operational practices comply with WHO standards and all regional regulatory requirements.
- Develop and streamline internal systems and processes aimed at achieving superior operational excellence, focussing on key areas of cost management and quality management within the commercial and non-manufacturing functions.
- Take full charge of the day-to-day operations of the business, translating the long-term vision into actionable plans.
- Implement a robust, company-wide planning and budgeting process.
- Manage the performane of the commerical team inlcuding target setting, tracking performance and taking corrective action that includes training, coaching, mentoring or disciplinary action.
Required Qualifications and Profile
- Qualifcation: A business degree, preferably at Masters level
- Experience: At least 10 years experience and a proven track record in a senior leadership role with extensive commercial responsibilities (Sales and Marketing). Experience in the FMCG space is essential pharma experience is and advantage but not essential
- Market Knowledge:Demonstrated experience in multi-country management, specifically across the East and Southern Africa region.
- Leadership Style:An ambitious and transformational leader with a relentless drive for results.
- Skills:Proven strategic planning skillsas well as people management skills, exceptional planning & organisation skills, coupled with strong follow-through capabilities to ensure execution and accountability.
- Regulatory Acumen: Solid understanding of regulatory environments and stakeholder management, particularly in a highly regulated industry like pharmaceuticals.
