Job Overview
Brites Management Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Lead for a hospital in Embu, Kenya. The ideal candidate will oversee the quality management systems and processes within the hospital, ensuring the highest standards of healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality management strategies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and projects to enhance patient care.
- Conduct audits and inspections to identify areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with medical staff to develop and maintain clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Provide training and support to hospital staff on quality and safety practices.
- Prepare reports on quality performance and present findings to hospital management.
Strategic Quality Development
- Design and implement hospital-wide quality improvement strategies aligned with clinical excellence and operational efficiency goals.
- Establish long-term quality objectives and create measurable action plans to achieve them.
- Stay abreast of national and international healthcare quality trends to ensure the hospital remains at the forefront of best practices.
Compliance, Accreditation & Risk Management
- Ensure hospital operations meet or exceed standards set by regulatory and oversight bodies, including Safecare and ISO9001 accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and inspections; develop and oversee corrective and preventive action plans.
- Promote a culture of compliance and risk mitigation across all departments.
Data-Driven Quality Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and interpret hospital performance data to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Identify quality gaps and lead initiatives to close them using evidence-based methodologies (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, PDSA cycles).
- Provide regular reports and insights to senior management and department heads to support informed decision-making.
Interdepartmental Collaboration & Leadership
- Lead cross-functional quality improvement teams comprising clinical, administrative, and support staff.
- Facilitate regular quality review meetings and communicate quality goals, progress, and expectations clearly.
- Act as a liaison between the quality department and other hospital units to ensure alignment of quality priorities.
Patient Experience Enhancement
- Work closely with the patient care teams to identify areas for improving the patient journey, clinical outcomes, and service delivery.
- Implement and monitor initiatives aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction scores and reducing patient complaints.
- Utilize patient feedback and survey data to make evidence-based improvements.
Documentation and Information Management
- Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of clinical and operational documentation, including patient consent forms, treatment records, and policy manuals.
- Ensure that document control practices meet legal, ethical, and accreditation standards.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain up-to-date documentation repositories.
Requirements
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Public Health, Health Systems Management, or a related field.
- 2 years proven experience in a healthcare management or quality assurance role.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare systems and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and tools.
- Strong familiarity with Safecare and ISO9001 quality standards, with proven experience leading or supporting successful accreditation processes
