Job Description
- We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will support the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage ERP preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Roles/Responsibilities
- Assist in processing day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable.
- Post journals, update ledgers and conduct reconciliations (bank, petty cash, creditors, debtors).
- Maintain accurate records and files for audit readiness.
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts and reports.
- Assist with payroll processing and statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NSSF, NHIF).
- Issue invoices, ETR receipts, monitor collections and follow up on outstanding debts.
- Work with accounting software and Excel to update data and support improvements in financial processes.
- Provide ad-hoc support and administrative finance tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.
