Job Description
- The Datacenter Operations Manager supports the Senior Datacenter Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the datacenter to ensure continuous availability, reliability, and compliance of critical infrastructure. The role involves managing operational processes, coordinating shift teams, ensuring facility uptime, and maintaining accurate reporting and documentation. The position works closely with Network, Systems, Security, and Facilities teams to uphold service levels, support business continuity, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Operational Management
- Oversee daily datacenter operations, ensuring power, cooling, environmental systems, and security are functioning within service level targets.
- Monitor operational performance through BMS/DCIM dashboards, alarms, and shift reports to maintain high uptime and reliability.
- Manage datacenter assets and ensure accurate inventories of infrastructure components.
- Infrastructure Maintenance
- Coordinate routine inspections and preventive maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and environmental systems.
- Supervise maintenance, repair, and replacement activities to ensure equipment integrity and service continuity.
- Support planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades and capacity expansions in coordination with the Power & Mechanical Systems Manager.
- Incident Management
- Act as the primary escalation point for incidents affecting datacenter operations.
- Oversee incident response, ensuring rapid containment, communication, and service restoration.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis sessions and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Security & Compliance
- Support enforcement of datacenter physical security policies and access control procedures.
- Ensure operations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI DSS, Uptime Institute).
- Coordinate with Security and Audit teams during reviews and assessments.
- Project Support
- Participate in datacenter infrastructure and operational improvement projects, including expansions, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, escalating risks as necessary.
- Liaise with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to support successful project execution.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Ensure accurate documentation of operational activities, incidents, assets, and maintenance records.
- Prepare and submit regular operational reports on performance, capacity utilization, incidents, and trends.
- Contribute to management dashboards, audits, and operational analytics to support strategic decision-making.
- Essential Knowledge
- Excellent understanding of low-voltage power infrastructures, standards, and operational parameters.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, air handling units, precision cooling systems, building monitoring/control systems, and generators.
- Familiarity with BMS/DCIM platforms and alarm management workflows.

Qualifications and Experience
- Education: University degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of LV switchgear operation and protection, UPS systems, generators, and PLC-based controls.
- Proven troubleshooting and decision-making abilities in critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience in datacenter operations or critical facilities management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
