        Description:
        The Mater Hospital was opened in 1962 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic Order of Nuns originating from Ireland, three years after registering themselves as the Registered Trustees of an entity under the Perpetual Succession Act (the succeeding legislation after independence). The "Sisters ofย Mercy" first set up a 60 bed general hospital to cater mainly for the poor, indigenous Kenyans, with the primary mission being general healthcare. The colonial authorities granted 12 acres of land in a swampy, mosquito-infested area, which has since become the Industrial Area of Nairobi. In 1970, a 60-bed maternity ward was opened with antenatal, postnatal and immunization clinics attached in order to upgrade the quality of maternity healthcare available to the poorer segments of the Nairobi population. In 1972, in recognition of the contribution of the hospital in training midwives to assist births in rural areas, Mater was chartered as a School of Midwifery.         Job Description
				
           Main Duties:
- Monitor standards of nursing care and other support services to ensure delivery of quality patient care
- Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to ICU nursing and support staff.
- Participate in budgeting, procurement and Inventory management for the ICU.
- Monitor and evaluate quality indicators and patient safety metrics within the unit.
- Address issues and concerns within the unit to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to the management.
- Updating staff on health and safety requirements to ensure a safe environment and compliance with the statutory requirements.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care and collaborate closely with physicians, anesthetists and other departments. al and institutional goals.
- Monitor staff scheduling, performance appraisals and continuous professional development.
- Institute cost control measures to maximize on efficiency.
- Ensuring effective infection control measures in the unit.
- In liaison with the Security Manager ensure adequate security at the premises throughout and report any incidents
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
- Any other duty assigned from time to time
Required Qualifications and Skills for the Position
- KRN/M/KRCHN/ Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN)
- A Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing
- Valid Nursing Practice Licence
- Valid BLS/ACLS certificates
- Minimum of 5 years Critical Care Nursing experience with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Keen on detail with a high degree of accuracy
