Key Responsibilities:
° Head the laboratory quality management unit
° Ensure the processes needed for QMS are established, implemented and maintained
° Promote awareness of users’ needs and requirements throughout the laboratory and HIV research branch
° Ensure compliance and conformance with requirements for applicable regulatory entities (e.g. ISO 15189, KENAS, GCLP/HSP)
° Perform periodic laboratory internal audits and ensure departments perform timely follow up of audit findings
° Prepare and present QMS and/or other related information to the stakeholders
° Provide oversight and documentation of all laboratory trainings and competency assessments
° Perform external audit and inspection preparations
° Ensure procedure manuals and policies are written, updated and approved in a timely manner
° Identify and address complaints, non-conformances and corrective actions
° Schedule and organize management review meetings in consultation with the laboratory director
° Prepare quarterly quality management system reports
° Mentor, advise and provide technical support to fellow scientists, graduate students and interns
° Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by immediate supervisor.
Vacancy Requirements:
° Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: -Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science or relevant scientific qualifications from a recognized institution Mandatory
° Registration by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or any registration body, if applicable, with a valid current practicing license, is an added advantage Added Advantage
° ISO 19011 internal audit for medical laboratory officer training will be an added advantage Added Advantage
° Training in analytical skills and use of at least one statistical software package, e.g. STATA, R, SPSS or SAS will be an added advantage Mandatory
° Excellent team work and time management skills Mandatory
