Role Overviews
- We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead our nursing department. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic oversight of nursing operations, clinical quality, patient safety, and staff development, ensuring that nursing services align with the hospital's mission and uphold the highest standards of care.
Clinical Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for nursing services across the hospital.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for all nursing units.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional nursing standards.
- Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based nursing care.
- Mentor, train, and evaluate nursing staff to foster professional growth and retention. Collaborate with hospital leadership and medical teams on clinical governance and operational planning.
- Monitor nursing budgets, optimize resource use, and contribute to cost-effective healthcare delivery.
- Lead initiatives for patient-centered care and continuous service improvement.
- Knowledge of endoscopic procedures, equipment reprocessing, and infection prevention standards.
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSCN) from a recognized institution; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or related field is an added advantage.
- Valid registration and practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Minimum of 7-10 years progressive nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience in Maternity, ICU & critical care or theatre will be an additional advantage
- Strong knowledge of healthcare systems, quality assurance, and clinical governance.
