KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution, founded in July 1989 as Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) to improve the quality of accountancy and financial management training in the country. KCAU is located on Thika Road in Ruaraka, Nairobi, Kenya. The institution also maintains satellite colleges under the School of Professional Programmes in Githunguri, Kericho, Eldoret, Kisumu and Kitengela.
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and other learning situations as assigned by the CoD from time to time.
- Participate in developing, administering, and marking exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Assist in developing learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- Provide advice, guidance, and feedback to students to support their academic progress and refer them to relevant support services as needed.
- Assess and evaluate students during industrial attachments and internships in relevant organisations.
- Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of high-quality curriculum, ensuring programs remain aligned with industry needs and emerging trends.
- Participate in writing research proposals and applying for research grants.
- Contribute and participate in the development of departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
- Provide pastoral care to students through academic advising and counselling.
- Contribute to departmental, faculty and/or University-wide working groups or committees as and when requested to do so.
- Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities to update and enhance skills.
- Maintain proper records of students’ examinations, assignments, and continuous assessment tests, and ensure they are keyed into the examination records management system on time.
- Attend departmental, Faculty and University-wide meetings with other staff members.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- An earned Ph.D. in Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, Industrial Relations, or a closely related field from an accredited and recognised university.
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated quality and progressive teaching experience at the university as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- A minimum of four (4) high-quality publications in refereed journals since last promotion to the position of Lecturer.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
- Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Demonstrated evidence of service to the university and community.
- Evidence of both national and international HRM contributions through scholarly meetings, conferences, research seminars, and service on national/international advisory boards will be an added advantage.
