Job Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Ensure all machines/equipment are running optimally and regularly serviced and repaired, monitoring utilities consumption, maintaining minimum stock levels, planning and execution of preventive maintenance, duty allocation and hatching day-old chicks as per breed standards through best practises in incubation management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning and execution of a preventive maintenance schedule ensuring all hatchery machines/equipment are serviced as per schedule and running optimally, with a target mean time between failures of 3 months
  • Incubation management-monitoring, recording, profiling and calibration ensuring 100% hatch to breed standard
  • Utilities monitoring-ensuring minimal wastage of water, power, and fuel through regular monitoring of utilities usage and taking corrective actions immediately
  • Planning and overseeing premise, and compound facilities (electric fence, manholes and septic tanks etc)
  • Spares inventory-control ordering and usage of spares, ensuring a minimum stock level is maintained
  • Training, coaching and motivating maintenance personnel
  • Budget and implement maintenance section's budget
  • Compliance-ensuring compliance to local/national regulatory requirements

CANDIDATES PROFILE:

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical or Mechatronics engineering. An Electrical Diploma with experience is ALSO acceptable.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a production environment
  • Knowledge of incubation management is desirable and an added advantage
  • Experience in a Hatchery operations is desirable and an added advantage
  • Must have worked with teams and demonstrated leadership ability.
