DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, parts replacement, and cleaning to extend the life of mechanical equipment.
Identify and address potential problems before they escalate into major breakdowns, minimizing unplanned downtime.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs to restore machines to full working capacity.
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, etc.) to pinpoint mechanical faults in equipment such as conveyors, compressors, mixers, or injection molding machines.
Replace or repair defective components, such as bearings, gears, pumps, motors, and other mechanical parts.
Machinery Installation and Modification:
Assist in the installation of new machinery and equipment, ensuring all components are correctly assembled and operational.
Work with the engineering team to modify or upgrade existing machinery to improve performance or adapt to new processes or production requirements.
Perform mechanical adjustments and calibrations to ensure proper equipment functioning.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all mechanical work adheres to quality standards and that machinery operates at optimal efficiency.
Inspect mechanical systems for wear and tear and ensure the timely replacement of parts to maintain machinery functionality.
Work closely with the quality control team to maintain product quality by ensuring machines operate correctly throughout the production process.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures and protocols while performing maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
Ensure that all machinery complies with industry regulations and safety standards, including OSHA or local regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of safety and encourage team members to prioritize safe working practices in all maintenance and operational tasks.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
Document recurring issues or trends in machinery performance and work with the engineering team to develop long-term solutions.
Prepare maintenance reports for supervisors, highlighting areas of concern or potential improvements in machinery and equipment performance.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with other maintenance technicians, production staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow.
Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues promptly and minimize production interruptions.
Assist in the training of junior technicians or new staff on equipment maintenance procedures and safety practices.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with new technological advancements in mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment.
Suggest improvements to mechanical systems or processes that could lead to better performance, reduced downtime, or cost savings.
Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and stay informed about industry best practices.
