Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Property Maintenance and Repairs

 

Perform routine checks around the property to identify maintenance issues early.

 

Carry out minor repairs including plumbing leaks, electrical faults, door/window fixes, and painting touch-ups.

 

Oversee garbage collection and disposal; ensure bins are well-managed and areas remain hygienic.

 

Monitor water tanks, pumps, and other utilities to ensure smooth operation and report any malfunctions.

 

Ensure proper lighting in all common areas and replace bulbs or fixtures when needed.

 

Cleaning and Upkeep

 

Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all shared spaces: hallways, stairwells, lifts, parking lots, gates, and the compound.

 

Sweep, mop, and disinfect common areas on a regular schedule.

 

Keep outdoor areas (lawns, walkways, front yard) free of litter and debris.

 

Manage and supervise any outsourced cleaning staff or service providers.

 

Tenant Relations & Support

 

Serve as the first point of contact for tenant inquiries, complaints, and emergency issues.

 

Communicate tenant concerns clearly and promptly to the property manager.

 

Assist tenants with minor support needs such as helping with deliveries or access issues.

 

Security Monitoring

 

Monitor the general safety and security of the premises.

 

Report any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or unauthorized access to relevant authorities or security personnel.

 

Ensure that gates and entrances are properly locked at designated hours.

 

Administrative & Reporting Duties

 

Keep basic records of maintenance tasks, repairs completed, and incidents reported.

 

Maintain a logbook of complaints received and how they were handled or escalated.

 

Ensure inventory of basic tools and cleaning supplies is maintained and request restocking when needed.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

 

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Building Caretaker or in a similar role

 

Basic handyman/repair skills (plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.)

 

Good communication and interpersonal skills

 

Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work with minimal supervision

 

 

Salary: Ksh. 18,000
