Job Description

Conduct internal inspections of farms and production units according to ICS procedures and organic standards (USDA/NOP, EU 2018/848).

 

Verify farm compliance with EU organic regulations, including production, field management, and harvesting practices.

 

Estimate yields and verify data accuracy through balance verification exercises.

 

Complete and submit all required documentation and reports accurately and on time to the ICS data clerk. Adhere to the company's Grower Group Quality Manual and annual work plan for all inspections.

 

Identify non-compliance issues and guide farmers on necessary corrective actions.

 

Accompany field officers to assist with monitoring and evaluating farm activities.

 

Educate and support farmers on organic and Fair-Trade standards and coconut quality requirements, ensuring farm-level traceability.

 

Provide on-site guidance to farmers on organic inputs and proper harvesting methods.

 

Train other staff, including field officers, buying clerks, and receiving clerks, on inspection processes and compliance.

 

Stay current with changes in organic regulations (EU and USDA/NOP) to ensure continuous compliance.

 

Prepare detailed inspection reports with observations, compliance status, and follow-up actions.

 

Maintain accurate records of farmer compliance and update the Approved Farmers List (AFL).

 

Communicate inspection findings and compliance requirements to farmers and field officers.

 

Collaborate with management to schedule inspections and ensure continuous improvement, while

 

maintaining impartiality and declaring any conflicts of interest.

 

Requirements

 

A Diploma in Agriculture

 

Two years of work experience

 

Excellent knowledge and understanding of farming practices including Organic standards, Fairtrade, Climate smart farming techniques.

 

Computer proficiency: Moderate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with people across all literacy levels.

 

Ability to use smart gadgets in data collection and doing surveys

 

Confident public speaker

 

Willingness to spend long hours in the field riding and walking in the farms.

 

Ability to speak fluently in English and Swahili

 

Motorcycle riding experience with a valid
