A unique employer, Edith strived to understand the challenges that faced this marginalized group. She treated them with respect and gained their respect in return. From a healthy and open relationship with her employees, she soon became aware of the stigma and tribulations associated with domestic workers and opened her home as a training and advocacy centre for them. In its pilot phase in 2001, CDTD was known as Domestic Support Services, and initially served 5 girls from Kibera. Sensitive to the needs of Kenyan women, Ms. Murogo soon expanded her program and officially registered the Centre as an NGO in 2003. Since its registration, she has adopted numerous programs in order to best assist the disadvantaged. Job Description

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Management

 

Support in overseeing project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with organizational goals and donor requirements.

 

Assist in preparing and monitoring financial reports across multiple projects.

 

Process invoices, payments, and staff reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.

 

Participate in routine financial reviews and spot checks to ensure compliance.

 

Reporting

 

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders.

 

Develop accurate donor financial reports in collaboration with the Finance Officer and Project Managers.

 

Consolidate project financial data and provide variance analysis to guide program decision-making.

 

Ensure all reporting deadlines (internal, donor, and regulatory) are met with high-quality submissions.

 

Grant Management

 

Support the preparation of grant budgets and financial inputs for proposals.

 

Track expenditures against approved grant budgets and flag variances.

 

Monitor allocation of costs across projects to ensure accuracy and prevent overspending.

 

Compliance, Auditing, and Risk Management

 

Ensure all project financial activities comply with organizational policies, donor regulations, and statutory laws.

 

Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation, schedules, and reconciliations.

 

Maintain organized financial records to facilitate audits and donor financial reviews.

 

Identify financial risks and support the implementation of mitigation measures.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

 

 CPA II or equivalent qualification.

 

Previous experience (1-2 years) in finance or accounting, with a focus on reporting and compliance.

 

Strong understanding of accounting principles , financial reporting standards and regulatory standards.

 

Demonstrated ability with quick books and other financial reporting software’s.

 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.

 

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

 

Experience working in a non-profit organization with reporting and compliance requirements.
