Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic Communications and Media Engagement Plan aligned with the Justice System Strengthening Program.
  • Integrate data-driven approaches including audience segmentation, analytics, and impact measurement tools.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to design communications plans for key initiatives, including studies, program launches and events, that will support external engagement strategy.
  • Develop and monitor digital strategies including social media, newsletters, and online campaigns.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of content and survivor stories
  • Gather learnings from successful narrative-building initiatives and identify opportunities for innovations.
  • Lead crisis communication planning and reputation management strategies.
  • Mentor and lead communications staff, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Aligning local strategies with IJM’s global campaigns and advocacy goals.
  • Define and track KPIs such as media reach, engagement rates, sentiment analysis, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Develop, adapt and maintain a library of on-brand resources for presenting IJM's work to audiences (i.e. PPT decks, handouts, standard speeches) aligned to country, regional and global messaging
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of IJM Kenya’s Communications objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or public relations (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate communications, media management, public relations, or communications.
  • Proven experience in strategy development, media trend analysis, and digital engagement.
  • Strong leadership, editing, writing, and event management skills.
  • Experience with analytics tools and social media publishing.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse or cross-cultural audiences
