Role Overview
RKJMS is seeking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, specialized care in the diagnosis and surgical management of ear, nose, and throat conditions.
This role encompasses managing a wide range of ENT disorders, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including theatre procedures and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will mentor junior staff, engage in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
Conduct comprehensive patient consultations to assess ENT-related symptoms, review medical histories, and determine diagnostic requirements.
Diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of ENT disorders including chronic otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, laryngeal disorders, and head and neck pathologies.
Develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, lifestyle modifications, and surgical interventions.
Provide long-term management and follow-up care for patients with chronic ENT conditions.
Act as a referral point for general practitioners in ENT matters.
Integrate psycho-social support into patient care, addressing both physical and emotional aspects of ENT disorders.
Procedures & Interventions
Perform specialized diagnostic ENT procedures.
Oversee and collaborate with the audiology department
Execute a variety of surgical procedures, including tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, myringotomies, sinus surgeries, and head and neck oncological surgeries.
Oversee and conduct minor procedures and emergency interventions in the ENT department as required.
Collaborate effectively with anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Training & Professional Development
Actively participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities, including conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Mentor and supervise medical officers, nurses, audiologists, and other clinical staff to foster a culture of excellence.
Contribute to advancements in otolaryngology and surgical practices.
Implement and participate in quality improvement initiatives within the ENTdepartment.

Ensure an outstanding patient and client experience by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and clear, empathetic communication throughout the treatment process.
Uphold the highest standards in data protection by maintaining the confidentiality and security of patient records in compliance with hospital policies, the Kenya Medical and Dental Council regulations, and applicable data protection laws.
Compliance & Ethical Standards
Maintain meticulous and confidential patient records in accordance with all medical and legal regulations.
Strictly adhere to hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Kenya Medical and Dental Council.
Promote best practices in patient safety and the delivery of high-quality care.
Job Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in ENT Surgery or equivalent surgical specialization in ENT from a recognized institution.
Registered as a Medical/Specialist Practitioner with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Certificate of Registration and a valid practicing license from the Medical
Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Possession of a Recognition Certificate as a Specialist by the Kenya Medical
Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
Work Experience
At least one year of post-specialization experience in a busy ENT surgical unit is required.
Demonstrated expertise in performing both diagnostic and surgical procedures related to ENT conditions.
Experience in training and mentoring medical personnel is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in computer applications and modern medical IT systems.
