Job Description

Responsibilities

 

Duties will include and not limited to:

 

Drive the Internal Audit plan and effectively coordinate with external partners to ensure execution

 

Supporting the Compliance Manager in obtaining all relevant licences, authorizations, services (products and tariff) approvals as per the law and regulations.

 

Preparation and submission of quarterly and annual compliance reports to the Communications Authority and other relevant government authorities as may be required.

 

Review of new and proposed legislation, advice on its impact on the Airtel money activities.  

 

Support in engagement activities with (including without limitation) the Communications Authority, the Central Bank of Kenya, Financial Reporting Center and the Unclaimed Assets Authority.

 

Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly reports to general management level and highlights significant events promptly.

 

Support Business with mobile money commercial partnerships, review all Airtel Mobile Money contracts to support Commercial and Product teams with contract negotiation towards minimizing liabilities and adverse exposure for the Company.

 

Manage case files, settlements, reporting requirements (monthly legal register, show cause notice register) and external’ engagement in line with Airtel Money policies.

 

Maintain legal and regulatory internal compliance checklists.

 

End to end management and coordination of Shareholder Meetings, Board of Directors meetings and Board Committee meetings 

 

Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly reports and filing of all statutory annual returns, 

 

Ensuring smooth relations and interface with other Divisions within the Company-on-Company Secretarial matters and corporate documents and records.

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications and Required Competencies

 

Law Degree and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. A master’s degree in law, business or economics is an added advantage.

 

A Certified Public Secretary (CPS(K)) with a valid certificate of good standing 

 

Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to a telecommunications company.

 

Strong work ethics with a positive “get it done” attitude.

 

Good organization skills with exceptional attention to detail.

 

Good interpersonal and communication skills with a team-focused attitude.

 

Confident, voracious reader with an analytical mind, a desire to excel and a passion for legal work and the telecommunications industry.
