Job Description

Scope of Work and Deliverables

 

Phase 1: Preparation (10 days)

 

Conduct a rapid needs assessment and consult with key stakeholders, including African  women in National Societies, IFRC Surge and other relevant staff. 

 

Map existing leadership programs within and beyond the Movement to inform content  development.

 

Review and finalize the workshop curriculum including delivery methodology and program  structure

 

Develop detailed session plans, simulation scripts, and training materials. (training modules,  facilitation guides, participant workbooks, tools for reflection and peer learning).

 

Design selection criteria and processes for program participants.

 

Involve technical experts and guest speakers from IFRC, National Societies and other partners

 

(e.g. Glow Red, UN Women, Women-led organisations).

 

Prepare pre-workshop materials (e.g., reading lists, video links).

 

Prepare monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools to measure impact, including pre/post  assessments.

 

Phase 2: Training Delivery (5 days)

 

Facilitate the 5-day in-person workshop programme in coordination with IFRC and NS focal  points

 

Lead modules on gender dimensions, humanitarian response systems, leadership competencies, and operational management. Ensure integration of gender-transformative  approaches 

 

Guide group exercises, role plays, and energizers.

 

Lead and manage simulation exercise.

 

Ensure inclusive participation and learning environment.

 

Support participants in setting leadership development goals and action plans

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

Proven experience in leadership development, especially for women in humanitarian or  development contexts

 

In-depth understanding of gender equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly in Africa.

 

Fluency in English and French is required

 

Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating blended learning programs (virtual and  in-person).

 

Excellent facilitation and coaching skills, particularly with diverse, cross-cultural groups.

 

Experience working with African women leaders or supporting women’s leadership programs  in Africa.

 

Experience working in Africa or with African organizations on similar work

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Familiarity with IFRC systems, surge mechanisms, and operational procedures is an asset

 

Proven experience in designing and facilitating humanitarian training programs.
