Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Specialist Physician—ideally in Internal Medicine or a related field—to work within our psychiatric hospital. Reporting to Clinical Services Manager and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll manage physical health conditions that often present alongside psychiatric care. The ideal candidate should have 6 months to 1 year of theatre experience, adding valuable skills to our integrated clinical services.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Conduct thorough medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for admitted patients in a psychiatric setting.

 

Support the psychiatric team by managing chronic illnesses, acute medical conditions, and overseeing perioperative care.

 

Initiate and follow up on sonography and other diagnostic imaging referrals, integrating results into patient care.

 

Participate actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings, contributing medical insights to psychiatric treatment strategies.

 

Maintain accurate medical documentation aligned with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.

 

Respond to medical emergencies and assist in stabilizing patients within the facility.

 

Collaborate in developing and updating clinical protocols tailored to the psychiatric environment.

 

Provide patient education and engage with families or caregivers on health-related matters.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

 

Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

 

Completion of internship and 6–12 months post-internship experience including theatre exposure.

 

Postgraduate training or specialist status in Internal Medicine, or equivalent recognized by KMPDC.

 

Clinical competence, strong judgment, and professionalism.

 

Strong communication, teamwork, and empathetic patient-centered care approach.

 

Candidates with 6 months to 1 year of theatre experience will have an added advantage.
